Jason  will receive a monetary award of $ 2,000.00 as well as a  specially designed Scholarship of Honor Medal.

The prestigious Scholarship of Honor Award is named in honor of Sergeant  Eric McColley. Eric graduated from Gettysburg High School in 2000 and entered the United States Marine Corps. He had served over 5 years when  he , 7 other Marines and 2 Airmen were tragically killed in a helicopter accident off the coast of Africa while performing counter terrorism exercises.

With the help of the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation and the generosity of the people of Gettysburg, the Sergeant Jonathan Eric McColley Scholarship of Honor Award was endowed in 2006. This prestigious award is presented each year to an exceptional Gettysburg High graduate who plans to continue in Eric’s footsteps by serving their Country and community. In this way, Eric’s memory and sacrifice to our Country will be remembered through the aspirations and actions of  each year’s recipient.
